Two weeks after medal win, Murdoch's father dies suddenly

Just two weeks after he watched his son win a silver medal at the Sochi Olympics, David Murdoch was reeling with the sudden passing of his father from a suspected heart attack. Matt Murdoch, who inspired his son to take up the roaring game, was a three-time Scottish champion.

‘He was a brilliant dad to us all. My mum and dad inspired me, my brother and sister to take up curling and have done so much to help us all in our careers in addition to helping to inspire many others to take up the sport.
